| Kaylin Kirk started racing in early 2006, when she was only 8 years old in the Kid Kart class at the Southwest Florida Karting track in Immokalee, Florida. In October 2006 Kaylin moved up to the Easykart 60 class where she is currently second in points (at the time of this writing) at Monticello Karting in Monticello, Florida. What inspired Kaylin to this success in her young racing career? Her Dad raced stock cars and dragsters for a while so Kaylin has racing in her blood and when she was just a little girl, her parents have some friends that raced karts. These friends took Kaylin out to see a race…and that was it; she was hooked from that point on! Even though Kaylin is young, she has been described as one of the most focused drivers people have ever seen. Because she is a girl racing against boys, this drives Kaylin to be the best she can be. Kaylin feels that she has had to work very hard to prove herself out on the track as a driver to be reckoned with, but it is this hard work that has defined her. In her age group the boys are for the most part respectful of Kaylin, but there is always that small group that just has to say negative things about a female driver. Again, this only makes Kaylin more focused on the task at hand…getting the checkered flag! Because of this determination, Kaylin has developed quite the fan base at the track…and not just because she is a girl. Once she straps in, she is just like the others…a race kart driver. Kaylin has a very encouraging family when it comes to her racing. In fact, the words used to describe this are, “Very Supportive”! It is truly a family commitment and everyone plays a part. Kaylin’s parents make sure that this is what she wants to do, and so long as she loves it, they will find a way to continue to move forward. Kaylin will say that racing is in her heart and soul. Kaylin’s role model is Danika Patrick. She sees how hard work and commitment can pay off in the end. Kaylin feels it is one of the greatest things to see young ladies and women play such a big part in motor sports.
